Dr. Liao

A native of Taiwan, Dr. Liao holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree from Rutgers University, a Master of Music (MM) from Mannes College of Music, The New School, and a Bachelor of Music (BM) from Tainan National University of Arts in Taiwan. Dr. Liao received mentorship from Hsin-Yun Huang, an acclaimed international viola soloist, and Choong-Jing Chang, Principal viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra.Based in New York City, Dr. Liao has showcased her talent in various renowned venues such as Le Poisson Rouge, Symphony Space, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center. She has also captivated audiences internationally in Taiwan, Malaysia, and China.With a teaching experience spanning 14 years, Dr. Liao imparts classical violin and viola skills to students of diverse ages and proficiency levels. Her pedagogical approach, characterized by attentiveness and goal-driven methodology, has fostered the musical development of her students. Many have attained commendable achievements, including “Outstanding” and “Excellent” grades in the NYSSMA exam, performances at Carnegie Hall, championship titles in competitions, and acceptance into their preferred colleges.

Ms. Wu

Ms. Wu started to play cello at 8 years old. She finished her bachelor’s degree in cello performance at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory. She graduated from Mannes College of Music with her Master’s and Professional Study Diploma in cello performance with Mr. Fred Sherry. Ms. Wu performed regularly with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Garden State Philharmonic, New Jersey, and St. Luke Chamber Orchestra in New York. She appeared as a principal cellist for the Astoria Symphony Orchestra. She won the Royal Over Overseas League Arts c Scholarship. As a soloist, she appeared in the International Composition Competition in China and one of the biggest music festivals, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe series. At the same time, she gave full recitals in Calgary, London, New York City, Texas, Singapore, and China. She has been not only invited to perform at the German Embassy, the Irish Culture Center in New York, and Ivy League schools (Princeton University and Dartmouth University) but also has been invited to many festivals as a principal cellist such as Texas Music Festival and New York Theater Musical Festival. She also participated as a soloist in one of the greatest Beethoven scholars, Mr. Lewis Lockwood’s Beethoven Lecture in NYC.

Ms. Kathie has been playing the violin since she was 5 years and has never stopped playing ever since. She held her very first violin recital when she was just 11 years old! She then got to to play with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO), CYCNY Youth Orchestra and CPSM string camp at the Queens College Aaron Copland School of Music. She started teaching in 2007 by coaching her orchestra peers. With all this experience she then attended pre-college at Carnegie Mellon for violin studies. She later graduated the University at Buffalo with a Bachelors for Music Performance and now she currently plays with Litha Symphony Orchestra. For her students at Vienna Music School, she wants them to have fun and have memorable moments in their very own musical journey just as she did. She is looking forward to provide guidance to every student at their own pace. She believes if her students have the passion for music nothing is impossible.

Ms. Kyelah began her musical education at the age of three, going on to win her first competition at the age of four and having her first solo recital at the age of 5. She studied with violinist Norma Varga, and Juilliard professor Stephen Clapp before permanently studying under the tutelage of Dr. Jee Sun Lee at Concordia Conservatory. As a violinist, she has performed in numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles, as well as studying piano performance and music history. She studied music theory and music performance extensively under Curtis Stewart, a four-time Grammy nominated violinist/composer and Juilliard faculty member.Ms. Kyelah’s teaching philosophy stems from the belief that teachers must adapt to the students’ individual needs and aspirations. Some students wish to learn for recreational purposes, and other students are more exam-driven with a specific goal in mind. Both goals are supported by encouragement, consistency, and communication- with both the student and the parent. She has taught students of all ages and levels- from young beginners to advanced students, and is well- versed in preparing students for certified board exams. As a teacher, she hopes to instill the love of music in all of her students and help them achieve their full potential.
